 (Damasco) Ahmad si batte il pugno sul petto, mi mostra la felpa ricoperta di macchie scure. “Lo vedi? Lo vedi? Questo è il sangue di mio nipote. Stava tornando a casa da scuola, si è fermato per comprare un regalo per la festa della mamma (in Siria si celebra il 21 marzo NdR) e quel missile lo ha tagliato in due. Sono corso in strada, l’ho preso tra le braccia, ma lui era già in paradiso”.
Siamo a Kashkoul, il quartiere popolare alla periferia est di Damasco teatro  della più sanguinosa strage di civili delle ultime settimane. Una strage costata la vita a 44 tra donne, uomini e bambini. Una strage messa a segno da quei ribelli di Ghouta  che l’Europa per anni ha dipinto come le uniche vittime del conflitto siriano dimenticando e  ignorando morti e feriti di Damasco e delle altre zone controllate dal governo.
Ma stavolta ignorare  i caduti di Kashkoul sarebbe troppo anche per la cattiva coscienza di chi  dal 2011 ad oggi ha  deliberatamente preso le parti  dei gruppi jihadisti auspicando la caduta del presidente Bashar al Assad.  Stavolta  il  macellaio, come andava di moda chiamarlo, non è certo Assad. Una volta di più siamo di fronte ad una carneficina  messa a segno da quei ribelli che troppe volte e con troppa superficialità sono stati descritti come portatori di libertà e democrazia.
“Altro che libertà, qui hanno portato solo morte e distruzione. A me hanno rapito e ucciso un figlio e ora guarda cos’hanno  fatto… qui non ci sono militari, qui non ci sono gli uomini di Bashar al Assad,  qui c’è solo della povera gente come me…   ma a  loro non interessa – ulula una donna – loro alla vigilia della festa della mamma, una delle feste più sentite qui in Siria,   hanno lanciato un missile in un mercato affollato di bambini. Non sono semplicemente dei terroristi sono delle creature  disumane”.
Tra i bimbi falcidiati da quel missile  c’era anche Garand. Aveva otto anni era cristiano, era arrivato in Siria con la madre per fuggire dalla guerra che dilania il Sud Sudan. Il suo corpicino straziato adesso riposa in una bara  bianca posata davanti all’altare della chiesa del Memoriale di San Paolo.
Il convento cristiano eretto per ricordare  la conversione di San Paolo dista meno di due chilometri dal luogo della strage.  Padre Fazi Azad,  un francescano arrivato dalla chiesa del quartiere di Kashkoul recita  messa, guarda commosso quel feretro candido sospeso in una navata affollata dai volti scuri  e turbati della comunità cristiana sudanese.
“Lui aveva solo otto anni ed era il più giovane di sei fratelli. Era un nostro chierichetto, veniva in chiesa ogni domenica. Ieri stava tornando a casa da scuola quando quel missile lo ha falciato. Conoscevo bene sua madre. Aveva deciso di portarlo  qui assieme ai suoi  fratelli per metterli al sicuro. Sognava di crescerli lontani  dalla guerra che dilania il loro paese  e fa dei cristiani un popolo di perseguitati. Invece guerra e persecuzione hanno inseguito quel povero bimbo fin qui”.  
Madre Yole Girges, una suora originaria di quella provincia di Idlib sottomessa da anni agli arbitri e alle nefandezze  dei ribelli islamisti guarda quel piccolo feretro e trattiene a stento le lacrime. “Povera creatura, era un bimbo innocente. Che colpa aveva per venir ucciso così? Sicuramente nessuna, ma agli uomini cattivi di Ghouta poco importa. Per loro la vita dei bambini non conta nulla. Per loro non c’è nulla di sacro. Spero solo che davanti a tanto dolore, davanti a tanta crudeltà, il mondo e l’Europa capiscano finalmente chi sono i ribelli e si rendano conto di  quanti errori hanno commesso negli ultimi anni”.

This is a translation by Costantino Ceoldo of an article by the well known Italian war correspondent Gian Micalessin reporting from the scene on the latest attrocity committed against Syrian civilians by the Western-armed and supported mercenaries sent to destabilize Syria and throw the counry into chaos, like Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Yeman. These attrocities are seldom mentioned in the Western media and when they are, they are falsely blamed on Assad and Russia.

Damascus, Syria. Ahmad beats his fist on his chest, shows me the sweatshirt covered with dark spots. “You see it? You see it? This is the blood of my nephew. He was coming home from school, he stopped to buy a gift for Mother’s Day (in Syria celebrated on March 21) and that missile cut him in two. I ran into the street, I took him in his arms, but he was already in heaven.”
We are in Kashkoul, the popular neighborhood on the eastern outskirts of Damascus, the scene of the bloodiest massacre of civilians in recent weeks. A massacre killed the lives of 44 women, men and children. A massacre carried out by the West’s mercenaries in Ghouta, killers that Europe for years has portrayed as the only victims of the Syrian conflict, forgetting and ignoring the dead and wounded in Damascus and other areas attacked by those hired to overthrow the Syrian government.
Nevertheless, this time ignoring the fallen of Kashkoul would be too much for the bad conscience of those who from 2011 to today has deliberately taken the parts of the jihadist groups hoping for the fall of President Bashar al Assad. The butcher is certainly not Assad. The massacre was committed by those who too often and with too much superficiality have been described as bearers of freedom and democracy.
“Here the Western supported killers brought only death and destruction. To me they kidnapped and killed a child and now look what they did… here there are no soldiers, here there are no men of Bashar al Assad, here there are only poor people like me… but they do not care – a woman howls – they on the eve of Mother’s Day, one of the most heartfelt parties here in Syria, they have launched a missile in a market crowded with children. They are not simply terrorists, they are inhuman creatures”.
Garand was also among the children who were killed by the missile. He was eight years old, he was a Christian and he arrived in Syria with his mother to escape from the war that tears South Sudan. His broken little body now rests in a white coffin placed in front of the altar of the church of the Memorial of Saint Paul.
The Christian convent built to commemorate the conversion of St. Paul is less than two kilometers from the site of the massacre. Father Fazi Azad, a Franciscan who arrived from the church in the Kashkoul district recites Mass, looks at the white coffin suspended in an aisle crowded by the dark and troubled faces of the Sudanese Christian community.
“He was only eight years old and was the youngest of six siblings. He was our altar boy, he came to church every Sunday. Yesterday he was coming home from school when that missile mowed him. I knew his mother well. He had decided to take him here with his brothers to keep them safe. He dreamed of growing them away from the war that tears their country and makes Christians a persecuted people. Instead, war and persecution chased that poor child up to here”.
Mother Yole Girges, a nun from the province of Idlib who has been subjected for years to the wills and nefarious things of the Islamist rebels, looks at that little coffin and barely holds back tears. “Poor creature, he was an innocent child. What fault did he have to be killed like this? Surely none, but to the West it does not matter. For them, children’s life matters nothing. For them there is nothing sacred. I only hope that in the face of so much pain, in the face of so much cruelty, the world and Europe finally realize how many mistakes they have committed with other people’s lies”.

Considero ser necessário falar hoje, de novo, sobre os trágicos acontecimentos em Donbass e sobre os aspectos mais importantes de garantir a segurança da Rússia.

Começarei com o que disse no meu discurso de 21 de Fevereiro de 2022. Falei sobre as nossas maiores responsabilidades e preocupações e sobre as ameaças fundamentais que os irresponsáveis políticos ocidentais criaram à Rússia de forma continuada, com rudeza e sem cerimónias, de ano para ano. Refiro-me à expansão da NATO para Leste, que está a aproximar cada vez mais as suas infraestruturas militares da fronteira russa.

É um facto que, durante os últimos 30 anos, temos tentado pacientemente chegar a um acordo com os principais países NATO, relativamente aos princípios de uma segurança igual e indivisível, na Europa. Em resposta às nossas propostas, enfrentámos invariavelmente, ou engano cínico e mentiras, ou tentativas de pressão e de chantagem, enquanto a aliança do Atlântico Norte continuou a expandir-se, apesar dos nossos protestos e preocupações. A sua máquina militar está em movimento e, como disse, aproxima-se da nossa fronteira.

Porque é que isto está a acontecer? De onde veio esta forma insolente de falar que atinge o máximo do seu excepcionalismo, infalibilidade e permissividade? Qual é a explicação para esta atitude de desprezo e desdém pelos nossos interesses e exigências absolutamente legítimas?
